Ukrainian game developer Frogwares has secured a legal triumph after a prolonged legal dispute with former publisher Nacon over The Sinking City. Frogwares now stands as the exclusive publisher of the IP on all platforms, marking what is hopefully the resolution of this tumultuous narrative.

For those who recall, The Sinking City was delisted from the PS Store in 2020 amid a public feud with French publisher Nacon. Frogwares claimed that Nacon, which had acquired the rights to sell the game on PS4 in exchange for developmental payments linked to achieved milestones, abruptly ceased these payments after milestones were met.

Despite meeting the agreed-upon milestones, Nacon allegedly stopped royalty payments, leading Frogwares to assert that the existing contracts were voided when the game was released. The developer accused Nacon of breaching the contract by withholding royalties and orchestrating the removal of the game from certain storefronts to prevent additional funds from reaching Nacon.

In 2021, The Sinking City reappeared on Steam, and Frogwares promptly warned players against purchasing it, asserting that it was a pirated version released by Nacon. Finally, it appears that Frogwares has emerged victorious in French courts, signaling the end of this protracted legal saga.
